2017 SK Mirror Award Collection Release + Q&A with the Winning Stylist
The shoot I am proudly sharing today, was the product of an amazing assembly of artists. The hard working team of 13+, helped Alicia Soulier take home Saskatchewan's top hair stylist at the recent Mirror Awards in Toronto! As part of the release of the final images, I interviewed Alicia on what inspired the looks that took home the highly coveted award. Read what inspires her, and also enjoy a look at the final images.
Thank you again, to the incredible team.

WHAT ARE YOUR GO TO SOURCES FOR INSPIRATION?
A - I honestly start with how I'm feeling in that time of my life. Some of my strongest collections come from when I am feeling overwhelmed and need to express myself. In this particular collection I was fighting to balance the work life struggles we all face. This collection I have to say was one of my strongest. I kept saying the whole process believe in yourself and you will succeed. I put everything in and received such a beautiful collection in the process. I also felt a huge release so I can focus on my day to day as some collections can take over your mind trying to create excellent expression of my passion.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
A - I usually look for images on Pinterest and magazines for the feel and textures I am wanting to achieve. Most important if you have a hard time finding exactly what your looking for then your on to creating something never seen. This is where I step out of comfort and challenge my abilities.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR THE SHOOT?
A - Three words
Movement - because I am always moving
Peace- to encourage myself to slow down and enjoy each moment
Power- to teach myself I can achieve anything and my talent will speak for itself
HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO ADAPT ON SET? HOW OFTEN DOES A SHOOT GO TO PLAN?
A - Never! The shoots always change in my opinion but keep in mind I have been shooting for only 6 years max. The more I do the stronger I get to the plan. If you have a solid team you will learn how to get to the destination more precisely and on time. I love the extra inspiration that comes on set when you start one way and end up in a different direction. This is when magic happens.
When you are shooting for your own creative collaboration it usually never goes as is. If I were booked for a commercial shoot or video or print it is the art of making it exactly as planned.
