Greatest Moments of 2021

When I look back over the last twelve months, it feels like the year came and went in a blink. Do you feel the same?

I spent some time looking back at the year, and discovered some incredible moments that I’m very proud of and wanted to share. So without further ado, I give you my greatest moments of 2021.

Stepped in front of the camera

I was lucky enough to be asked to play dress up for photography Nicole Marie Photography last February. It was such a dream experience to be able to wear a beautiful wedding dress from W Bridals, have my hair styled by Kara Firman, and my makeup done by Kaylee Smisko. Being in front of the camera again gave me greater empathy of the nerves my clients feel and served as a great reminder to how to guide them in a shoot.

Not only was it a valuable and memorable experience, but I’ll cherish these photos for years to come!

Salon Scale Photo and Video Shoot

Last March, we were able to work with the SalonScale team for their Color Your Way campaign. This campaign featured 5 models each with a unique color scheme. It took a large crew of hair stylists, art directors, stylists, and makeup artists to make this shoot a success, and a success it was.

The shoot was split into two days; one was a full day of photos and videos with the models, and the second day was the product shoot. Below are some of the images from the model shoot featuring Tasha of Edge Agency.

Created my first Posing Guide

By working with models in development over the last few years, I’ve learned that any additional coaching and preparing on posing I can do before the shoot makes a world of difference in a model’s confidence. To help with that, I created my first posing guide to help models and or others looking to improve their posing.

I have the posing guides available for purchase (both downloadable PDF and print) on my website.

New Billboard around Saskatoon

It’s always a proud moment to see my work on large display around Saskatoon. This year, the billboard placement for Barry Chilliak Realty Ltd. was the exciting feature seen on Idylwyld Drive, Circle Drive South, and various downtown locations.

Worked with Recording Artists

Having the opportunity to photograph recording artists is one of my favourite things to do. This year I worked with Cooper Tropeau, Katelyn Lehner, and Carlyne Ray for their recent or upcoming album covers.

Shot at TCU

Being able to photograph talented young dancers for the Performer competition was a huge highlight for me. As a former dancer and teacher this was a project very near and dear to my heart. I absolutely love how the images turned out, and I used only stage lights to achieve the final images.

Shot at the Great Sand Hills

With the inability to travel out of country due to the pandemic, came the desire to find unique spots to photograph around Saskatchewan. I definitely found some incredible places, and I was shocked to learn the Saskatchewan landscape varies so much. It truly is a beautiful province.

I was not only able to to shoot at the Great Sand Hills, not once, but four times this past summer. Each time was about a blazing 37 degrees celsius!! Here’s one of my favourites.

Shot at the Big Muddy

Perhaps the most unique region in all of Saskatchewan is the Big Muddy valley. I had no idea such a place existed in our province and I can’t wait to go back. The 4.5 hour drive south resulted in these jaw dropping images of model Bailey from Edge Agency. Her makeup was done by Alison Seaman of Regina, and the model’s dress was from Sweet Pea & Noelle from the & for Love collection.

Shot at a Potash Mine

I’m not one to trespass usually however this location was just too unique and perfect to pass up. The journey to this spot wasn’t easy, and I’m not sure I would do it again…

The resulting images are among some of my favourites from the year.

Model - Jenna Heisler of Edge Agency
Makeup - Anh Pham

Held my first annual sessions in Waskesiu

Spending time in Waskesiu during the summer has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Last year was the first time I offered mini sessions and it won’t be the last!

Mode Masterclass Bridal

Postponed due the pandemic in 2020, the first ever MODE masterclass took place in May.

Mode Masterclass are workshops taking place in Regina for makeup artists to learn from the industry’s finest! First started by Ginette Hall and Sara Lindsay.

Mode Masterclass with Roshar

The second MODE Masterclass took place in the fall, and celebrity makeup artist Roshar was flown in from LA to teach the class to 10 eager students. Below are the images from the makeup artists that attended the event with the last one being the work of Roshar.

Worked with international model Melissa

I was lucky enough to photograph Melissa twice this past year. She has worked as an international model for the past ten years, and has been in magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, and worked for clients such as Avon.

Melissa is very comfortable in front of the camera and moves easily and flawlessly.. a real treat to photograph.

Two Magazine covers

Now that digital photography has taken over, it’s not very often that you get to see your work printed. So when it is printed, especially on the front of a magazine, it’s very exciting! My work was able to grace the covers of both Germination Magazine (Canadian based), and Vous Magazine (Spain) this past year.

Published over 7 times in Magazines

Ellas, FIENFH, Moevir, Roidx, Selin, Vous, and Marika, and Germination Magazines.

Lululemon Ambassadors

I was hired to photograph three of the Lululemon brand ambassadors and the photos are now hanging in the beautiful new store in Midtown Plaza.

The Lululemon brand ambassadors are: Adrianne Vangool from Vangool Wellness, Shaina of Ryde YXE, and Joel Lipinski of Ignite Athletics.
