Five Reasons Why Fall Mini Sessions Are A Must

The number one regret I hear people say is, ‘I wish we would’ve taken the time to have our pictures taken every year.’ Today I’m here to remind you that NOW is the time to book those photos. So often we let life get in the way, but I think we just have to let pictures get in the way of life sometimes. I don’t think you’ll regret looking back on watching changes year to year in your children, yourself, or fashion for that matter (we all know how entertaining that can be).

I’ve decided that fall mini sessions are an absolute must! And, here’s why!

  1. FALL IS BEST!

If you live in Saskatchewan, you understand that we live in a winter climate for almost nine months of the year. The other seasons are beautiful, but fall is the most by far because of the abundance of autumn leaves sweeping across the prairie landscape.

A couple other benefits of fall shooting are the outfits and the natural props! Talking wardrobe for photos, there’s a lot that can be done with putting outfits together for fall. Like wearing hats and scarfs, boots, mixing knits with jeans. Fall is the best season for fashion, hands down because it allows so many stying options! And for props the fall leaves can be great! I hear the words all the time, ‘what do I do?’. This can easily eliminate any awkwardness as it allows you play in the leaves and I can capture candid moments with the kiddies playing.

2. NEUTRAL FALL COLOURS FOR THE WIN

The problem with shooting in winter is you have to wear a parka, or tough it out and pretend like you’re not cold.. meanwhile your nose is running and your cheeks are turning pink. Spring and summer are super colourful and green which can be tricky to coordinate wardrobe. The neutral colours of fall provide a plethora of options for planning your outfits without clashing with the landscape. It’s also great because your prints will tone in beautifully with your home and go with any decor.

3. MINI SESSIONS ARE A GOOD WAY TO SAVE A BUCK

By booking a mini session you are actually saving a little bit of money! I tend to price them at a bulk rate. Since I’m already on location, and I'm seeing several people in one day I’m able to charge a lower rate, which in turn saves you some money!

4. GET A HEAD START ON THOSE HOLIDAY CARDS

The year gets busy, and by just taking the 30 minutes in September to get your photos taken you’re winning! Because let’s face it, once the Holiday season hits our calendars are booked up and things like holiday cards tend to go out on December 23rd. Or is that just me?

5. KIDS ARE ONLY YOUNG ONCE

People often avoid taking the time for photos because life get’s in the way. If you don’t take the time to do it, you’re going to look back and wonder where the time has gone. My advice is don’t put it off! You only have one chance to capture your kids at their age, so don’t let those opportunities slip by. The time you take for your photos will be appreciated for years and generations to come!
