10 Things Most People Don't Know About Me
Oh hey there.
I realize that it’s probably time I share a little about me. Makes sense right? Like this is my website! Well, here I am world, and I want you to get to know me a little bit better! Finally. So with that purpose in mind, I’ve compiled a fun little list of 10 things you probably don’t know about me. And, I’m curious if anyone shares any of these in common? I know there are a few that I feel quite personal about, but I think if we’re getting to know each other we might as well be honest, right?
So here we go..
Yes I’m a romanoff, but no I’m not a romanov
That’s right, I hate to break it to you, but I’m not part of the Romanov dynasty. As much as I would love to lie and tell you I am, I’m just not that kind of person! The truth is, my Grandfather was a performer with CBC and had an orchestra and that was the stage name he picked. Still kinda cool though right?
I also work as a dance teacher and choreographer
Dance is such a huge part of my life! I grew up taking dance, and then almost immediately after graduating high school I began instructing at Studio One! It’s been amazing opportunity to have two creative occupations, and both offer such a nice mental break from the other and keeps my mind fresh.
I think dance has helped so much with photography… it’s taught me so much about posing, timing, and even with instructing expression and building sets.
I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the U of S
Straight out of high school, I really had no idea how to be an adult. I wish I could say I was independent and mature enough to know exactly what I wanted to do.. but it definitely was a journey to get to where I am today.
My first year, I was registered in Arts and Science, and then realized that maybe I wanted to open up a hair salon and that I should pursue business. So I did, and majored in marketing…but didn’t end up owning a salon. Which is totally fine, life has a funny way of getting you to be what you’re intended.
My favourite city in the world is New York
I’ve been to New York city a few times, and boy there is not a day that goes by that I don’t dream of living there! Yes, I know it’s crowded, highly competitive, and SUPER expensive… but I absolutely love it! I love the restaurants, the bustle, all of the cool random events going on every day, and mostly I just love the energy! I think it has such a creative pulse and I want a piece! I’ve always dreamed of living in a big city, and maybe one day I will!?
For years I didn’t think I had a unique talent
For many years, in my teens and twenties, I truly felt lost. I often looked to what my sisters were doing and thought, ‘wow, that’s so cool.. I wish I was doing something like that!’. I remember feeling like I really didn’t have any talent that made me unique, but it turns out I did, because everyone does! For me, I knew that I loved taking pictures, but I really needed to hear a bit of encouragement to pursue it. I’m so thankful to those friends of mine that helped push me in that direction. It was a life changer.
I photograph more than just fashion!
I know you probably wouldn’t believe it because most of my website is fashion, but I do photograph many other things! I photograph headshots, portraits, maternity, engagements, events, and even WEDDINGS! Shocker I know.
I have a pizza addiction
Okay, so I know I’m definitely not alone in this one. But it’s true. I have an addiction to pizza! I have it at least once a week, and I never get sick of it. I would say my most favourite pizza is from Una in Saskatoon, and the pizza in particular is the quattro fromaggi. It’s basically a perfectly oven roasted pizza covered with cheese and drizzled with honey.
I’m hooked on watching CNN
I guess this all started when Trump got into office, and it’s often on at my house because I just can’t believe half the stuff that’s going on in my neighbouring country. I embarrassed to admit, but I watched it so often I was on a first name basis with all of the CNN hosts.
I’ve got a travel bug
Perhaps we all do these days because of the beautiful instagram posts we see, and how airfare is so much more reasonable than it used to be… but I love seeing a new part of the world. I just booked a trip to Berlin in October, and I’d love to hear if anyone has any travel advice/tips for me. Let me know in the comments below.
I’m learning to play guitar
Living with a professional musician, and producer guy has really inspired me musically. I used to take guitar lessons when I was in high school, and now I’ve picked up the ol’ acoustic and started building up the callouses again. Kinda loving it.
Well know that I’ve shared a bit about me, I would love to hear one thing about you the reader! Let’s build this friendship, share what your favourite food is in the comments below!
